A 19th century Italian glove box
An Italian, poplar wood, glove box with a wonderful inlay decoration of varius woods such as rosewood, cedar, satinwood, ebony, etc. The subject shows an old woman on a donkey carrying a basket of fruit, while a younger woman with cross on her wid-brimmed hat (probably a nun) walks beside her and leads her.
Opening the top, the front side opens at the same time so that there is better access to it’s interior.
